Gear Update

Here's a gear update for us.

Gloves

These are the gloves I use: MadGrip

My personal review is that they are very good for this event.  I used them the first time through and they did not let me down under any circumstance or for any obstacle.  I bought a new pair for this next mudder.  Jeremy had a pair of Under Armour gloves that he used back in December but I never chatted with him about how they performed.  You can find links to his previous post about those gloves on this blog somewhere, just search for Under Armour.

Team Shirts

We have been bouncing around the idea of keeping our existing red bolt Under Armour shirts.  A quick search for them online this morning made it obvious that this shirt is no longer on sale (or not worth the trouble to hunt down).  Considering that various team members don't have the existing shirt, the decision is to purchase new ones.

A new year, a new design.  I also invite other United Mudder members not currently training to consider joining in on this purchase so we all have the same t-shirts going forward (which means, you should opine on what you think).  We WILL have a full all team mudder again after this one, so it only makes sense to invest now so we don't worry about this later on.

The question now is, what style?  My suggestion is still compression dry-fit shirts.  I am also a fan of just buying ones online and being done with it.  However, Brian threw out the idea of stamping our team name on the shirts.  I'm not completely opposed to the idea, but I ain't doing the leg work for that.  Brian, feel free to research and post some ideas on customized shirts.

Otherwise, here are my easy "just buy them online" suggestions, in order of preference.

1. The following shirt in my two favorite color combinations.  Love this shirt ($40):
Under Armour Shirt

2. Lots of cool shirts on this page but this one stands out to me ($44.95):

Thoughts?  We should decide this soon.

Peace.

  2. I like the first and second shirt because of the bright colors. I think it'll help locate members if/when we get separated.

My choice in gloves for both TM's were a pair of Bionic workout gloves with the finger tips cut off. It had the padding on the palm that help with climbing over walls and such and kept my fingers out for feel. The only down side i would say was on the monkey bars. I felt that the padding that helped protect my hands on the more abrasive obsticles kept me from getting a full grip on the bars. My solution in Tampa was to remove my gloves right before the obsticle which was towards the end of the event.
