Just came back from a 4.5 mile run. At this stage in my running, I consider that a long run. Probably the longest run I've had in a couple of months.
I took the Garmin with me, and I finished it up in about 45 minutes with a somewhat precise average pace of 9.98 minutes per mile. Remember I'm running in these gorilla shoes, so I need to see how my calves feel tomorrow before I can determine when I can increase my distance. Hopefully the soreness is minimal.
Peace out. Go Canes!
My calves are on fire!
ReplyDeletei can imagine bro... heard youre feeling it today though... are you gonna stick with it for TM or switch over to running shoes?

Yea, I'm still going to try. I ran 4.5 miles before with these shoes and didn't have any significant issues. The big difference is that prior to that 4.5 mile run, I had been running pretty regularly 3 miles about twice a week, so I really built up to it.
ReplyDeleteSo this is a case of doing too much too soon. I'm walking like a duck today as a result!
i guess my biggest question is... are you going to be able to do 12 miles in those shoes with the amount of time we have left?

I will determine that in a couple of weeks. I have my backup shoes ready, but I will give myself at least another 2-3 weeks of regular running sessions before I decide that.
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning towards no, especially considering that I may lose this week now to due calf pain.
I will say that I'm feeling way better today. Calves are coming back so I'll try a run again tomorrow or Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBack to CrossFit today though.
