Gear

Under Armour is sponsoring this years event, so I went looking through some of the gear they have for training and competing for the Tough Mudder specifically. One item which has come up in other blogs is gloves and if they were beneficial or not.

So, I went through and researched a bunch of different gloves and manufacturers and came up with a pair which is available in a half finger and a full finger version. They should be here this week and I can let you know how they stand up to some monkey bar work and other tests I put them through.  I ordered the full finger version. They were $25. The half finger are $20. The palm of the full finger is going to be the same color profile of the half finger shown, not the black and yellow one, as they only had that and I wanted to show the palm design. I like the colors of the grey and orange. The girls gloves only come in Pink and I am not sure if the small mens will fit an average girls hand or not.

That is Mesh on the palm to aid in keeping you cool and drying out quickly.

The description is from the site. They can be found here:

There is also going to be an option to create your own Under Armour Team shirt. It is not yet functional, but when it is, maybe we can do something like that. Let me know what you think.

You can see it posted here:

Lets try and think of some team colors or a theme to do, which will not be too tough to run in.  I kind of like the Grey and Orange combination, but would also be stoked for an Marine OD Green Color. That way I could wear my USMC Boonie Cover.

I also bought a skull wrap, as I tend to sweat a bit. Got the Idea from Denny and this was on clearance for $11.

Last but not least, I have been checking out minimalist running shoes and styles. I have researched a bunch of shows and ended up with this model. It promotes a mid sole stride when running, allowing you to move more like your body is meant to.  It has a 4 mm drop from heel to toe and lets you feel the terrain.

I purchased the New Balance Minimus  MT10 Trail shoe for a discounted $79 at the Patrick Air Force Base Exchange. They typically retail about $105 and these are also tax free. If interested in this type of shoe, I could work with you to get them. They are extremely light, flexible, and comfortable. Read about them.here! I got the color pictured below because that is all they carried.
