Thanks and Farewell

I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for a solid team effort.  I had probably the most fun ever at one of these endurance events and I think it's in large part to the blog, the various trainings, and of course the team work we exhibited at the event itself.  I can't wait to do this again and I suspect next time we'll have many more joining us.  Who knows, this blog might be resuscitated in a few weeks with some new folks posting as well.  Until then, I wanted to leave you with the following pic...

Tough Mudder Update

So I just visited the TM website and the TM for us in Tampa is now officially sold out.  I think that's a good thing  as it will contribute to the energy of the day (and we'll probably have some decent eye candy to keep us entertained!).  Only 9 weeks away guys...9 WEEKS!!!  Let's get in gear here!

Check out this video of the most recent TM in southern California just a couple of weeks ago:

Moving On

So just because I don't have another blog, I thought I'd share this one here since it is somewhat Tough Mudder related.

I've spent the last few days running around, in a non-cardio manner, trying to get my things packed up in anticipation of my move on Monday.  Had lots on my mind while also experiencing the busiest time of the year at work.  I'm quite looking forward to having my move completed in a couple of days and regaining control of my life once more.  Due to the madness, I didn't do a damn thing this week from a fitness and training perspective.  However, I knew early on the craziness that would ensure, so I committed myself to focused and structured working out the next few weeks.  I'll let you know if I stick to it.

We are closer than we realize to this thing.  What do we need to do to get everyone motivated?

My vote is to schedule a team workout, someway, somehow.  But for Jared, both David and Denny have done a Crossfit workout with me.  It's likely not worth doing that again as a group, so I'm open to suggestions.  Denny, I think we'll definitely want to work around your schedule the most since you are out of town.  If we want to do a team workout let's do so when we can overlap with one of your trips to Miami.

For now...thoughts?

P.S. I thought the blog needed a little revamping.  Let me know what you think.

Welcome New Bloggers

It seems appropriate to formally welcome both Dave and Jared to the blog.  As you can tell from the series of posts, Denny and I have been using this site as a tool to communicate, stay informed, and keep each other in check and motivated.  I invite you both to post whatever you want.  It's our team blog so let's all contribute to it as a team.

I call both of you guys out a bit here and ask you to post something about what you are doing week to week to train for this thing.  It doesn't matter whether you are working out daily or once a week.  We are a team, so full disclosure is important.  Just put yourselves out there and say what's what.  I think Denny and I are fairly in tune with what we're doing, but it would be nice to hear from the two of you.

Also, this is a reminder that, the Tough Mudder is a HALF-MARATHON.  Ok, maybe just shy of a half-marathon, but I think you see where I'm going with this.  I don't care how much we are each doing in the gym (alot or a little) we all need to perform training runs at some point.  It doesn't matter how fit you are at the time of the event, running is running is running and we will need to step-up our running distance.

I myself am guilty of heavily slacking in this area of training.  I plan to formalize a progressive running plan for myself once I get past the hump of September 15th.

We have 14 weeks til the big day.  Let's think ahead to how much fun this event can be if we are all in great shape and properly conditioned for it.  We can take those obstacles and make them our bitches if we so choose to.  Let's also think ahead to what a nightmare this can turn out to be if we are holding the team back and/or having a difficult time managing the course.  You don't want to be the guy huffing and puffing and wishing you did more.  It's better to overdress for a party than to underdress.

14 weeks!
